About Ritoban

If you’re reading this, you are sensitive to values like creativity, honesty, and kindness in the creative and media industry.

Here’s the bad news. These values are under constant threat in a world that has a pathological history of prioritizing profits over purpose. But you already knew that.

But there’s also good news. ‘Cause for every layoff and scandal, there are those who still fight the good fight. Freelance reporters, art students, theater kids – stubborn little buggers who refuse to just shut up and go quietly.

These are the stories that I hope to tell. I'm Ritoban Mukherjee. I started my career as an investigative reporter covering innovation and tech.

I wrote about an all-women team of digital mappers using data science to combat domestic violence in Argentina. Exposed a greenwashing startup conducting ethically questionable octopus farming on land. Interviewed experts who suggested algae could save everyone from starvation when climate change destroys our crops.

Then, I switched gears for a while to work with marketing agencies like Optimist, Ten Speed, Campfire Labs, and Animalz.

Today, I analyze industry headlines and review software for technology media publications like Techradar, Tom’s Guide, and ZDNet. Aside from that, I also consult on creative marketing campaigns for SaaS startups like Softr, Hostinger, Sendbird, CoreView, and more.

Nutgraf is my long-time previewing passion project turned social experiment to push the boundaries of creative journalism. Here, I talk about the stories that matter to me. Period. There are no rules, except that it's got to be something interesting and creatively relevant. You'll read about offbeat internet subcultures, weird paleontology facts, workplace neurodiversity challenges, pressing issues affecting the queer community… it could be anything, really.

My hope is to help you expand your horizons. And maybe you can help me expand mine too. I’m so glad you found yourself here. I think we’ll get along just fine. :)
